Lake Country Bed Barn has recently introduced adjustable beds to their already fulfilling lineup of sleep systems! In addition to making it easier on your body to enjoy television, work on a tablet, or eat in bed, there are a lot of health advantages to having an adjustable base. In joining up with Lake Country Health Center, we spoke to Dr. Dan Murray, DC, regarding the health benefits an adjustable bed can provide as the “go to” for comfort, relief, and relaxation!
Although, the benefits can vary on a case by case basis, adjustable beds can temporarily alleviate many types of pain associated with your back, hip, neck, sciatica, and even common arthritis. One of the primary reasons that these beds can provide relief for so many different ailments is that they allow for ergonomically correct positioning which provides for a natural curvature of the spine during sleep. By promoting that healthy posture, many of the discomforts and problems that inhibit deep, restful sleep can be avoided.
Alleviate Back Pain
Having the ability to incline your bed at a 45 degree angle provides relief for the lower back, while raising the foot of the bed elevating the legs and bending the knees can relieve even more pressure on the spine.
Sciatica
If you are a side or stomach sleeper, an adjustable bed can help promote sleeping on your back, which is ultimately the best position to promote spinal alignment, breathing, relieve pressure points and promote blood flow. Laying on your back can improve pain related to Sciatica, Spondylolisthesis, Spinal Stenosis, among other spinal issues.
Headaches and Minor Aches and Pains Typically, patients who suffer from headaches will have the most pain in the morning due to a night of uneasy sleep. Sleeping with your upper body elevated improves the amount of oxygen able to reach you body, as well as, your brain. Side sleeping hinders healthy breathing, which often leads to tension and pain in different parts of the body.
